Frequently Asked Questions
A custom jewellery designer works with you to create a piece specifically for you, rather than selecting an existing design from a collection. We can develop a design from an initial idea, a sketch, a gemstone or even an existing piece of jewellery that you’d like to transform.
Yes. We regularly create custom engagement rings for clients throughout Melbourne. We can help you develop the design, select the right diamond or gemstone and create a ring that suits your style, lifestyle and budget.
Yes. We can often incorporate your existing diamonds or coloured gemstones into a new design. This can be a wonderful way to transform an inherited or sentimental piece of jewellery into something you’ll enjoy wearing.
We begin by discussing your ideas, preferences and budget. From there, we develop the design, select suitable gemstones and materials, and refine the details before your jewellery is handcrafted. We’ll keep you involved throughout the process so the finished piece is exactly what you have in mind.
The timeframe depends on the complexity of the design, the gemstones required and the level of handcrafting involved. We’ll discuss an estimated timeframe with you when your design is confirmed and keep you updated throughout the process.
Yes. Remodelling jewellery is one of the ways we help clients give sentimental pieces a new life. Depending on the condition and suitability of the existing jewellery and gemstones, we can incorporate elements into a completely new design.
There is no fixed price for custom jewellery because every piece is different. The cost depends on the design, precious metals, gemstones and amount of handcrafting involved. We’ll discuss your budget at the beginning and help you develop a design that works within it.
An appointment is recommended for custom jewellery consultations so we can allow enough time to discuss your ideas properly. You can contact us to arrange a consultation at one of our Melbourne stores.
Holdsworth Bros has three Melbourne stores at Eastland, Knox and The Glen. Our team can discuss your requirements, arrange a custom design consultation and guide you through the process from concept to finished jewellery.
Holdsworth Bros has been creating jewellery in Melbourne since 1884. Across four generations, we’ve combined traditional jewellery craftsmanship with contemporary design to create pieces that are made to be worn, treasured and passed on.
